August 1, 2009 - Bicycle ride

Picked up the bike from work, rode to the George Washington Bridge and found the pedestrian entrance, climbed the bridge's steep wanderway, and found that it was an utter failure--exceedingly narrow, families with strollers, bikeholes whizzing by it; another one of NYC's complete civic disasters. Turned around; biked home. Twenty-five miles total. I remember a friend telling me, a decade ago, about riding from the East Village up to the GWB and back. It seemed impossible. Now to Fort Defiance restaurant in Brooklyn to mess it up a little.
