When we hired Gina Trapani as a Director of Engineering at Postlight we knew, of course, that she’d founded Lifehacker many years ago. It turns out that you can take the engineering leader out of Lifehacker—but you can’t take the tendency to document life hacks out of the engineering leader. (I’m sorry, that was a terribly-constructed sentence, but you know what I mean.)

Hence this very useful post for Track Changes, probably the single-most broadly useful Track Changes post yet. Who knew we used all these tools! What is Figma? Do I need to download Paw? Other readers who work in product, design, and engineering will find it useful too.

She writes:

I recently started as a Director of Engineering at Postlight, and during my first 10 weeks, I’ve been on a mission to get to know my new coworkers. My first line of inquiry was: What apps do these people use? How do they use them? Is this place Photoshop or Sketch? JavaScriptor Python? Docker or Vagrant?Hacker News or ProductHunt? Thanks to Jeremy Mack and a Trello board he put together, I got some answers…

And she takes it from there.
