Anarchist Tech to Learn
Just leaving this here because it rules. I have enormous respect for Benn Jordan as an independent research and journalist, too. I'm not an anarchist but I do spend a lot of time thinking about how to build and support smaller communities with technology, away from giant platforms (like LinkedIn). A healthy ecosystem would support both, with easy onramps from large platforms to small, self-controlled communities, even though the large platforms would work quite hard to keep that from happening.
One of the most interesting things about AI/vibecoding to me is that it definitely allows access to these kinds of technologies to bloom; for example I was able to write (or rather, generate) code that ran natively on a microcontroller for the first time in my life, which I could have done in theory before, but the number of steps involved to get started was prohibitive, and now it isn't.
So for example if a bright but not fully schooled person wanted to create their own applications on the mesh network, they could. This is new. I wonder if we wanted this, or if we want only large platforms.
