Please Send Me Your Favorite Poem

So I can put it in an online anthology.

I am putting together an online anthology of Ftrain reader’s favorite poems. Please type yours into an email and send it to me, like this:

From: someone@whatever.com

A little bit on me: I am a mother of two and 36 years old.
Why this poem: I found this poem when I was very sad, about 3 years ago, and the sound of the two closing lines was so beautiful that I took an hour to memorize it, and began practicing ways to recite - or sing - it. I’m still practicing 3 years out, trying to get the sounds even and the worst straight. I’m not done with it yet.

He wishes for the Cloths of Heaven
HAD I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

-- W.B. Yeats

Poems old and new, comic and serious are encouraged. If you want your URL and/or email included with the poem, just mention them. The “little bit about yourself” is optional, of course, but would be nice. I will spam-proof all email addresses. If you don’t mention an email or URL I will simply credit the submission to your name. You can feel free to send me poems you’ve written yourself, and I’ll enjoy reading them, but I will not put them in this anthology.

Please send all poems to poems@ftrain.com by March 10. I will start putting up poems on March 20, at least one or two a week until I run out, and will let you know when yours is going up. Thank you!

I am doing this because I think that since many fine people - better than I deserve! - read this site I want to find ways to share and connect the audience that don’t have anything to do with me. This is one such, tentative way. Give me your favorite poems and I will give them to everyone else.

Thank you!

Paul
