This is nice, niiiice, the smooth wood floors and study areas, projection screens, everything planned, everything funded, the systems and physical plant and levels of administration all in place. Tables, chairs. So much birch and cooling gray. All walls are whiteboards.

The fellow faculty, bright professionals all, respected in their fields. Bringing our better selves, away from the day-to-day of our careers, now that we have been asked to be educators. It gives one a sense of purpose. There is something so hopeful about students. I don't start teaching until January, and even then it's only seven seminars, but I look forward to it--a fundamental challenge but one that can be met. A few weeks of planning and thinking, sorting and organizing.
