July 26, 2009 - Breakfast

8th St. Station infinity

I had 1,400 calories saved up for a fun evening and blew past them in five minutes. Fork at the ready. Not enough, though; I still managed to mess it up. This is what I learned from yesterday's flameout:

  • I used my friend coming over as an excuse for a splurge;

  • The weight of the small order of spare-rib tips was shocking (and in the past I sometimes ordered the large, which was probably two pounds and came with fried rice, egg roll, etc.--a 3,500 calorie meal), which I would follow with dessert;

  • I could have had four ounces of the meat and been fairly happy, but kept plowing through, which qualifies it as a binge, although it's nothing like a real binge;

  • Neither the egg roll nor the wonton soup was more than feeling on my tongue after the blast of the meat.

Grease is pouring out of me this morning. I could slide through a tunnel half my width.

This makes me think that "fun" days, days when I didn't worry about intake, drank two sixes, had Chinese for lunch and pizza for dinner--when I went into the 4K–5K calorie range. Layer upon layer. Cut me open and look at the rings. I am a tree of bad decisions.

I did work on my bike tires for an hour or two, tapping and spinning, and that was right for the mind. One of the tires is very uneven and has holes in it. It needs to be replaced.

I did finish the basic code for this website, and successfully migrate to a slightly different data model. Only search remains.

Yesterday's planned virtue never materialized. But disappointment doesn't get me anything.

The machine broke down. My wife had a fine idea, a few months ago. I see the wisdom of it; I am taking that Chinese restaurant off of speed dial.
