Mirror Only Slightly Angled

The online journaler, a strange creature of odd habits.

The gloomy online journaler,
Stays at home at night
Basking in the monitor's
Radiant blue light.

With clicks and pecks and backspace,
He makes his yearnings known.
His agonized emoting
Scratched out in textual drone.

"Affirm me," he says, coyly,
As he hides behind his words.
"Love me through my pseudonym,
I'm wounded--you've heard?"

He checks the prose of others,
And jealously compares
The numbers in his hitcount
To the numbers shown in theirs.

He reads the email sent him:
"Your words, they set me free."
He calculates exactly
How vulnerable to be.

And turns away in jealousy
To see what others write,
Basking in their monitors'
Glimmering blue light.
