Dear New York Times Webmaster,

On the right of the current (4 July 03) New York Times home page, a box reads:

"The Unwitting Abolitionists: Faced with the decision to execute or not, pro-death-penalty jurors are increasingly sparking lives."

I think you meant “sparing” instead of “sparking.” Unless they actually are pulling the switch, at which point it would be sparking.
