The Mother of God, and Leda and the Swan
The brilliant, lovely, and wonderful Juliet Ulman, who has supported Ftrain for at least 4 years now, writes: “Two of my most favorite poems are also by Yeats--the other Yeats, the tortured and weird one. I think might be my favorite poem ever, all terrible and beautiful, like stern Athena come from the mountain. I do not think it is a coincidence that two of my top ten poems are about god. I am an interesting sort of atheist.”
Paradise Lost is also in the top ten, but cannot be transcribed here, for obvious reasons. Namely, My God I Do Not Have That Much Time In The Day, Man!
The Mother of GodThe threefold terror of love, a fallen flare....
Leda and the SwanA sudden blow: the great wings beating still
