A theory of art
The concept behind the motivation.
My friend says, “all art is about your dick. When someone likes your work, they like your dick.” I reply: “some art is this way; other work is about trying to keep from going batshit, about ordering a system of ideas so that you have a place to explore and experience which isn’t as bitter, ignorant, or cruel as day-to-day life.”
“Writing is like a role-playing game,” he said. “a way to hide out and feel power.”
“Yes,” I said, “that is my rationale for doing it.”
